Located in Frenchtown Montana, the Alcan Bar and Grille is a staple in the community providing high quality meals and drinks at an affordable price. Originally built in 1934 the Alcan Bar is a huge part of Frenchtown history.

In the early 1930’s, Highway 10 came through the valley prompting the “city center” to move away from Mullan Road, where the lumber mill is located, and towards the highway. With time, people and developments happening in Frenchtown one thing has been consistent, the Alcan Bar. William Lucier Sr. originally built the Frenchtown Beer Parlor in 1934. Selling the bar in 1940 the new owner renamed it to the Log Cabin Bar. It was under this name that the original liquor license was purchased. In 1950 the bar traded owners once more and the name was changed to the Alcan Bar. Tom Porter purchased the bar in 1995 and continues to operate it to this day.

Tradition is important at the Alcan, the original bar top is still in place boasting local brands across it. While the bar has been renovated multiple times, you still get a local, hometown feeling when you walk into the Alcan.

The Alcan has been an icon in the Frenchtown Community for almost 100 years. starting out as a pit stop for locals to have a cold one after a long day, they’ve morphed and expanded to include an awesome and affordable menu, a full bar, pool, live music, dancing and of course gaming!
